How to check your Romanian citizenship dossier status

Updated: April 26, 2026

Illustration for checking Romanian citizenship dossier status

Dosar is the case number assigned after the successful filing of documents for Romanian citizenship. This number can be used to check the dossier status and follow its changes.

Dosar.app displays information based on public ANC data processed and indexed by the service.

Check dossier

The check form is available on the Dosar.app homepage.

What is a dosar

Dosar is the case number assigned after documents are filed for Romanian citizenship. Using the dossier number, it is possible to check the registration date, the review date, and changes in status, including the date and number of the published order.

What data is needed for the check

The check requires the dossier number and the filing year. In the documents, the number is shown in the format 12345/RD/2023, but for the check it is enough to enter the dossier number, for example 12345, and the year, for example 2023.

Meaning of the main fields

  • Dossier number (dosar) — the registration number of the case.
  • Filing date — the date when the case was registered with ANC (Autoritatea Națională pentru Cetățenie).
  • Review date (Termen) — the stated review date. This date may be indicative and often does not match the actual review date.
  • Order number (Ordin) — the order confirming that the citizenship application was reviewed successfully.
  • Order date — the publication date of the corresponding order, if this information is available.

If the dossier is not found

If the number is not found, this does not mean there is a problem with the case. Possible reasons include an incorrect number or filing year, a recently submitted case, or public data that has not yet been updated. It is recommended to verify the entered data. If necessary, the check can be repeated later.

Manual check on the official website

The check can be performed manually on the official Autoritatea Națională pentru Cetățenie website: cetatenie.just.ro, in the relevant sections. All information is published in PDF files. The dossier number and status must be searched manually. Dosar.app automates that search across processed public data and displays the result in a structured form.

If an order has been published

If the check result includes an order number, this means a publication related to the case was found in the processed public data. Once the order appears, the next stage is the oath ceremony. To proceed, an oath appointment must be scheduled through the official source: cetatenie.just.ro.

If the case is handled by a lawyer or legal representative, they should be contacted after the order is published in order to clarify the next steps. Dosar.app does not schedule the oath date, submit documents, or replace public authorities or legal advice.

Dosar.app

Dosar.app is an independent informational service. It is not affiliated with ANC, the Romanian government, embassies, consulates, or other public authorities. Official sources remain the primary source of legally relevant information. Dosar.app displays results based on public data processed by the service.
